Sail Virginia in Norfolk

The world's tallships came to Sail Virginia in Norfolk. 25 of the beautiful sailing tallships paraded into the downtown waterfront on June 8. This huge event coincided with the Norfolk Harborfest and was part of the Jamestown 2007 celebration.

Sail Virginia was more than tallships. There were parades, ceremonies, historic re-enactments, and a Native American pow-wow. Also entertainment on 6 stages, unlimited food choices, and spectacular fireworks. A re-created colonial village had actors representing famous historic characters.

Sail Virginia Tallships

The twenty-five Sail Virginia tallships included the Godspeed, Schooner Virginia, Pride of Baltimore, Rara Avis (from France), Tarangini (India), Cisne Branco (Brazil), Capitan Miranda (Uruguay) and many others. The parade of sail into Norfolk at noon was a unique and amazing chance to see all these ships under way.

Sail Virginia was the "can't miss" event of the summer. Norfolk Virginia hadn't seen anything like this in a long time.
